I am fascinated by the robotics and drone space and have been working with companies developing great things in this industry for many years. Most of my work with them includes broader marketing communications as well as PR. As noted in my earlier blog on this topic, it all began in the spring of 2016 when I started working with the bright and talented team at WiBotics to get the word out about their wireless power for the robotics industry. That led to working with the smart team at Aerovel, makers of the Flexrotor long-range robotic aircraft (a high-end drone). Both became long-term clients, and we were able to accomplish a lot together for their respective companies.
There was also BluHaptics (now Olis Robotics), a company that at that time developed haptics for robotic arms. And the inspiring DroneHive, a leader in providing expert services for aerial data collection, which has a network of more than 1000 drone operators around the country.
And Overwatch Imaging, another smart CEO and his team, that designs and manufactures imaging systems with custom onboard AI software for both piloted and unmanned aircraft. Among many other things, their technology has been helping to fight the wildfires that have been rampant in the West in recent summers.
In addition, I worked with RSE (Robots in Service of the Environment) on their “Lionfish-collecting robot” that was helping to mitigate the gorgeous, but invasive, Lionfish in the Caribbean. It was a side project of Colin Angle, the CEO of iRobot, although I never had the pleasure of working with him directly.
Fast forward to this past calendar year when I started working with RC Mowers to build awareness for their remote-operated robotic mowers. These high-end mowers, ranging from $38k to $63k per unit, are used mow steep slopes, hazardous terrain, around retention ponds and through thick brush. It is amazing seeing these great machines in action.
And lastly, the incredibly impressive team of roboticists at PickNik Robotics, with their collective 250 years of experience developing robotics. They are a leader in robotics software and engineering services and have been working on some extremely cool projects. Many of the projects are confidential, otherwise I am sure you would be as wowed by them as me.
Working with these teams has been, or currently is, a pleasure and we have generated excellent results together. They have also enabled me to understand the ever-growing robotics landscape and get to know the relevant media in the areas of robotics, drones, space, subsea, terrestrial and more. A big cheer to every single person at these various companies who took the time to teach me what they know about the robotics space. I have been like a kid in a candy store as I keep learning from them.
