Last Friday I went to the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, WA. It was fabulous!
The exhibits included:
— Life of a submariner (I am so grateful for their service)
— The ocean environment
— Mines, torpedo tech, nuclear missiles as deterrents
— Various submarines and their capabilities (very impressive!)
— Marine animals they use to search for mines and other things (dolphins and sea lions) and how they train them
— Various dive suits (for survival after a mishap, and for rescues)
— Submersibles and related robotics (for search, spy and recovery)
The people working at the museum, former submariners, were all super friendly and interesting to talk with.
I immersed myself for 3.5 hours, loved it, and highly recommend it. They have two former rescue submarines outside as well as the submarine “sail” pictured.
