DroneHive is a company I have worked with on and off for more than a year. Their founder and CEO Paul Huish is a gem, and he is as kind as he is smart. His company now has more than 700 professional drone operators around the United States who can be quickly deployed for corporations that want expert services for aerial data collection.
Paul called about a month ago and told me how his team had partnered with SiteAware to do maintenance inspections of the 1070’ Salesforce Tower, the tallest building in San Francisco.
DroneHive had to use all of its expertise in “drone operations in urban settings.” Flying drones in urban settings is no easy task as it is laden with rules and regulations. I learned a lot of fascinating information working on this project.
Turns out SiteAware’s PR person had placed a story in the San Francisco Chronicle (prior to me knowing any of this) and Paul asked if I would I be able to reach out to some media to get additional coverage of DroneHive. I contacted their helpful PR person, determined with whom she had already tried to place the story and decided the best course of action would be for me to go after the drone and robotics media.
Within a week I was able to negotiate two lengthy feature stories, one in Commercial UAV News and the other in The Robot Report. In addition, I was able to get Commercial Drone Professional to write about it and AUVSI to mention it in their newsletter. Design World and Vision Systems Design each repurposed one of the above stories as well.
It was a hectic 10 days for sure. I was busier than ever, but so happy with the results I was able to generate for DroneHive while still giving my other clients the attention they needed and deserved.
Let me know if you need media coverage for your drone or robotics company. It is an area I am passionate about.
